Christmas-Wrap

Hello Parents, Players, Coaches, Board Members, Volunteers and League sponsors

This year has been a difficult fundraising year for us. We ask our families to help in our fundraising efforts and to volunteer 8 hours each season and depending on the event, we may get some help or a lot of help. The flag football families are included in this volunteer and fundraising event.

We will be gift wrapping at Cielo Vista Mall this year as we have in the past. Our booth will be located next to the elevators by the fountain in front of Dillard’s on the lower level. (Starbucks entrance). We are asking our families, sponsors, volunteers, coaches and interested volunteers to help us by donating gift boxes (all sizes), gift wrap, bows, tape and gift tags. You can bring them by the field office during the week day from November 30 through December 18 from 10 am to 1:30 PM.

I might suggest that this is a great opportunity for community service hours for high school and college students to conduct a holiday gift wrap round-up. You would have a 3 week window to get in gift boxes, gift wrap, bows, tape and gift tags. You can put collection boxes around school and for every item donated you log 30 minutes of community service time for your organization.

We will accept donations of money or WalMart or Sam’s gift cards to purchase our supplies from there. Although Big Lots and Walgreen’s has great prices on boxes and tissue paper. If anyone has ties with these stores, it would be great if we could get an in store credit/donation to purchase what we run low on and then we don’t have to take out of the portion of proceeds that goes to the League.

Please pass the word to all your friends and families that we will be gift wrapping at the mall. We are asking for a minimum of $3 per gift to wrap no matter the size, we want to emphasize that we control what wrap we use. We wrap the gift, place a bow and a name tag and that is it. For most folks that is enough. There are patrons that are real particular and we reserve the right to refuse to wrap any gift.

Boxes are a huge need as purses, robes, suits and dresses are big items for gift wrapping. gift bags we do use if agreeable to the patron but anyone can use a gift bag.

If you volunteer, we ask you arrive a few minutes before you schedule your time and remember, sometimes we are really busy and other times we will be dead. You should schedule yourself at least two hours at a time to help and remember parking is crazy and so is the traffic.. The first week of the schedule the weekend will be busy and then it won’t start really getting busy until the weekend before Christmas and then it will be super busy the entire week of Christmas. We can only use six volunteers at any one shift. The space is small and we don’t have a lot of elbow room. We will be accepting credit card payments so be sure you are able to help us with that.

Our schedule for gift wrapping at Cielo Vista Mall will be as follows:

  • Friday, December 11, 2 pm set up booth at the mall
  • Saturday, December 12, 10 am to 9 pm
  • Sunday, December 13, 11 am to 6 pm ( Horizon High School Student Council has volunteered for the day)
  • Monday, December 14 through Friday, December 18, 6 pm to 10 pm
  • Saturday, December 20, 10 am to 10 pm
  • Sunday, December 21, 11 am to 8 pm
  • Monday, December 22 and Tuesday, December 23, 10 am to close
  • Wednesday, December 24, 8 am to noon only. Will need help to take down booth and take supplies to the field.

We appreciate all the help and desire to volunteer but in saying that if you are not a gift wrapper try to help us in another way. We also try to conserve paper when we wrap so you will be receiving suggestions as to how to wrap items. Keep in mind we have to pay for the supplies and conservation is something we try to do with the paper.

Thank you,
Sandie Sparks-Olivar, Director
